Kigali, Rwanda — A team from the World Food Program recently visited AgroPlast Ltd, a pioneering waste recycling company located in Gahanga Industrial Zone, Kicukiro District. The visitors were received by Mr. Leon Nduwayezu, the company’s Managing Director, who guided them through the innovative processes that transform plastic waste into valuable, eco-friendly products.
Founded in 2015 by Mr. Nduwayezu, AgroPlast has been committed to environmental protection through plastic recycling. The company turns plastic waste—often discarded as worthless—into raw materials that serve various sectors, creating jobs and supporting Rwanda’s circular economy.

During the tour, the team observed the company’s diverse product range, including durable trash bags for hospitals, restaurants, and households; greenhouse sheeting and nursery tubing that promote sustainable agriculture; and energy-saving solar pellet cookstoves distributed widely to refugee camps and communities.
Looking ahead, AgroPlast is planning to expand its product portfolio to include plastic pipes for electrical installations, pavers, and plastic bricks, further contributing to sustainable construction and infrastructure.
The visit underscores AgroPlast’s role in reducing plastic pollution, fostering environmental sustainability, and supporting local economic development.
